Learning outcomes:

On completion of this module successful participants should be able to:

a)         Knowledge and Understanding define project goals, work plan, project team, progress evaluation and project completion understand a variety of concepts and techniques within organisational and management theory relevant to project management practices demonstrate awareness of critical managerial issues related to the monitoring and performance of projects in contemporary organisations.

b)         Subject-specific Skills
demonstrate an understanding of the principles of planning, configuration and systems management related to cost estimation and project management software appreciate the significance of project management as a strategic tool for achieving competitive advantage within an industry or a market

c)         Cognitive Skills
examine the principles of strategic planning and their relation to project management critically evaluate project briefing and initiate due processes, including measuring, improving and inspecting project synthesize new project development in relation to the strategic planning of organisation. 

d)         Transferable Skills
formulate and implement strategic and operational plans, monitoring and control activities. Select and apply appropriate techniques to assess organisational progress in integrating project management throughout the firm demonstrate the ability to perform as manager, project team member or business consultant to build a powerful foundation for company improvement and excellence.

Teaching and Learning Approaches:

The delivery of this module will be based on 16 hours of lectures and a wide range of case studies, examples and exercises.  Students will be encouraged to relate the knowledge and skills gained throughout the module to their own working environment in an intelligent and creative manner.  You will be required to search for competent solutions to the current problems in managing projects in your organisation, using routine and non-routine approaches.
