Learning outcomes:

On completion of this module successful participants should be able to:

a)         Knowledge and Understanding
understand the fundamentals of information technology and its applications, communications and networks concepts develop an understanding of information technology and its position within the organisation appreciate the integration of management of information systems with the business strategy of an organisation.  

b)         Subject-specific Skills
demonstrate an awareness of the impact of information technology on the firm and society recognise the importance of information vision, IT architecture and planning at strategic, technical and operational levels.

c)         Cognitive Skills
evaluate and select appropriate information requirements for various types of decision making and planning strategies analyse the applicability of current trends in IT for an organisation. 

d)         Transferable Skills
develop intellectual, well-formed decisions on the IT needs of various functional arms of an organisation partner with IT specialists and stakeholders at professional and efficient levels be well placed to keep abreast of future developments in the field present written work in an appropriate and thoughtful manner.

Teaching and Learning Approaches:

The module will draw on a variety of teaching and learning methods.  Lecture the module will include the delivery of 12 major topics in the field of information system management.  Workshops are formed to cater for small and large group exercises, and case studies activities.  The module will make an extensive use of web-based support materials to fulfil its aims and objectives.
