Learning outcomes:
On completion of this module successful participants should be able to: 

a)         Knowledge and Understanding
understand and explain the range of theories, models and methods applied in contemporary management strategy of international businesses demonstrate awareness of the impact of global structural changes on markets and industries and the role of managerial decision making. 

b)         Subject-specific Skills
appreciate the complexity and diversity of business operations in global settings show awareness and creativity potential for change in strategic direction of the organisation due to globalisation relate the implications of global economic, political and legal differences to strategic choices of multinational enterprises demonstrate in-depth understanding of management roles and responsibilities in foreign environments.

demonstrate an awareness of global economic and technological changes and the impact of these on large and small organisations identify the specific role and style of leadership in change management synthesise the organisational structure of the firm with its international strategy

  Building an adaptive organisation
  Managing operations globally
  Leading and lagging strategies in a changing environments
  Organisational learning and development
  Leadership and motivation in global context

 

Teaching and Learning Approaches:

The formal delivery of concepts, theories and strategic principles will be based on a series of lectures, recorded on the CD Rom or video.   Weekly workshops will concentrate on case studies and discussion groups through Blackboard.  These will involve the evaluation and creation of theory and its application to problem solving in both real and organisational contexts.  Private study through research and investigation within your chosen organisation will prepare you for your assignment.
